A Quick Update
Hey, how about 2020 so far, right!? Well it has caught up with us too, but not too bad. Certainly not “Murder Hornets” bad (that one is for you, Tom).
First off, don’t worry, minis have been shipping, and more are leaving for their homes everyday. This is the part we do all the time, and the easiest for us to control. We have gotten a little behind, but more on that later...
However we are going to have a bit of an unplanned delay with the new Rulebook/Rule Set.Changes to schedules and lifestyles due to shelter in place and the impact of work-at-home/distance-learning have put us behind on the new rule set. We have shared the first pass, and have been getting feedback and working on edits, but we feel it is going to need some more time to edit and prepare for publishing, not to mention a bunch of playtesting, which isn't very easy to do right now. And due to the above mentioned changes to our work/life schedules, getting to that edit is going to take longer too.
We are certainly not happy about delaying it, but we would be even less happy to release something we were not sure was ready to launch.
So we came up with a couple of ideas to fill the wait with gameplay goodness and cheer!
First, which may seem unrelated, we are going to do a little bit of a rebranding of The Quar miniatures line. Pretty simple change, the line will now be known as This Quar’s War. This will allow us to bring all our rulebooks under the same banner. TQW 1.0 will become TQW: Hold the Line and Rhyfler’s Pocket Book will get the same branding, TQW: Rhyfler’s Pocket Book. The new rules set will get the same treatment, with the subtitle to be decided. No big deal, but it will help unify the brand out in the wild.
This leads to the second bit. The Campaign books are now going to be exclusively art and lore, rules free. This allows them to stand alone, not tied to any rule set, and usable by all. Any Campaign specific rules will live either online or as sets of stat cards for the various factions. The first one will be TQW: Western Iron to accompany the minis from the Kickstarter.
Thirdly, to help people use the minis they have or will be receiving soon, we are going to update TQW: Hold the Line (otherwise known as This Quar’s War) to work with the miniatures from the Kickstarter. New rules for new units, tractors and other goodies. TQW celebrated its 11th birthday this year, and has been free on our site for at least 6 years at this point. We know it works, we know how to fix what doesn’t, and we have already compiled stats for all the new stuff that has been released with the Kickstarter.
We are starting work on this update now, and expect to be done within a month, 2020 willing. We should have stats for the Kickstarter minis to use with TQW 1.0 online by the end of next week.
TQW: Hold the Line will continue to be free online and updated every time something new comes out, say when we do a second 15mm Kickstarter. We would love feedback, as always, and if we have enough demand we may consider producing a physical book.
Speaking of minis you will have soon… We have been holding orders while we waited to get the markers designed, but that is going to take a lot longer now. We have decided to send the orders now and we will get the markers out to you once they have been designed and produced with future release waves. Sorry for those delays.
Anyways, despite the setback, we are kind of reinvigorated by the above plans. TQW 1.0 has always been my (Anthony) favorite of our games and I’m looking forward to working on it again, and maybe even getting to play it now and then. And we are very excited with the direction the new rule set is taking and how it is progressing, we just want to make sure it is good, even if that makes it late. We hope you agree with this decision.

July Update!

Hey all! Everything is almost production molded and so far I have gone through 14 kilograms of resin (I think this is a lot, I have no concept of a kilogram) and around 40lbs of pewter. I ended up adding 2-5 new basic rhyfler poses to each faction, slowed me down a little bit. I learned a lot about what poses work with quar in 15mm as I went and was able to get more interesting poses with later factions, so went back to add them to the first ones I had done.
Zach is chained to a chair the next few days to get the first batch of stats for everyone to give us feedback. We recently added a zombiesmith discord server and there is already a quar-rules channel, a great place to discuss the rules! This link might work. Exciting to see if it does...

Apologies that I don't update here often. I spend more time updating on the Quar Discussion Facebook group. I'll try and be better as production rolls along about posting here.
Except maybe that resin production is going faster than I thought it would. Metal production is also about to start in earnest.

Hey All, we wanted to drop a line or two about how we are planning to fulfill the Kickstarter.
Miniatures
We want to start by saying that product will start shipping in a few weeks. This will be on a rolling basis over the course of the summer.
What does that mean? Well, we have the production molds done on a couple of the factions, master molds on a few more and are finishing up the prints to master the rest. As we have a faction production molded we will begin producing the minis to fulfill pledges. Some pledges, obviously, have minis from multiple factions. We will ship a pledge once we have the minis for all the factions selected. This means some of you will get product before others. If you only ordered Crusaders, as any upstanding citizen would, you are in luck as they will most likely ship first. Next after that is most likely Creevin or Fidwog.
As we are a small company this rolling method of shipping is the only thing that will make sense for us. Storing it all and shipping all at once late summer doesn't seem like the right thing to do. We will be as transparent as possible about where all the factions are at in the process. We should still hit our initial September date of all minis shipped, and will keep you all up to date as we go!
Books
The books are going to ship a little later, and the unit cards and card decks will be shipping with them. Both the Rulebook and the World book will be up as PDFs as soon as possible and we will get stats for the miniatures posted as well. We want to make sure we don’t miss anything this time around so we are taking our time to get the best possible version before going to print. That said, when we get the PDFs up, bang on them! (Please) We will be play testing them a lot, but this is one soup that requires as many cooks as possible. Play with them, break them, make them cry and then send us your notes and feedback.
The Future
We are thinking, always a dangerous proposition, that we will launch the next Kickstarter around September too. We will be done with shipping the minis and the books, which are run by a different team, will be really close with near final versions of the PDFs already online. So it will be a good time to keep momentum up for the line.
Anyways, thanks for your support, involvement, and passion for our strange little dudes. Insert cliche, but really you all made this happen, thanks!
TLDR; minis by faction as we ramp up production and ship as we have the pledges filled, by September is the plan, plus next KS by then too. Books and cards a little later, but they will be sweet! PDFs going up soon, play them!!
